Success IS...
One More and/or One Less then REPEAT
I can hear the chatter in your head already “Chris – what does this mean???”
Well my friends, it means exactly what it what you are reading. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: We, (yes you and me) complicate our lives!!! We think about doing it this way, we think about doing it that way, we research this and we research that, we talk to this person, we talk to that person. When it’s all said and done, we confuse ourselves to the point where we do what? NOTHING!
Here is my nugget for you this week. Do something, just one thing that will get you one-step closer to whatever you passionately desire. Please, really deeply consider what I am about to say. In any situation the best thing you can do is the right thing, the next best thing you can do is the wrong thing, and worst thing you can do is…..say it with me people…is NOTHING!
Again this stuff is simple. Doing the right thing is awesome, but why would I be excited about doing the wrong thing? Because, then we have one more example of what NOT to do next time. We are in fact one step closer to our goal. Sadly, the truth of the matter is we often do nothing. Doing nothing gets us where? Nowhere! Nowhere gets us??? Yes, depressed and frustrated. What gets us out of that funk? You got it - doing something! Why not start now and avoid the madness in the middle?
Here is an example of how I’m helping someone to lose weight with the one more and/or one less principle. I have suggested this person consider one more walk around the block, one more minute of crunches, one more repetition, one more set, one more exercise, one more minute at max speed, one more day. In turn, one less serving, one less soda, one less dessert, one less snack, one less fast food meal, one less after 7pm. REPEAT. They have lost 5lbs in three weeks.
Apply this concept to whatever you are doing. Ask yourself: can I make one more phone call, can I read one more article of a trade journal, can I knock on one more door, can I get up one half hour earlier to work on my goals, can I read one more book a year, can I spend one more hour with my family, can I spend one less dollar today, can I save a minute here and there, can I think one less mean thought today, can I use one less excuse today. It may not seem much at the time, but when you add it all up, you have success. Writing one page a day for one year would equal a written book.
If at the end of asking yourself those one more and/or one less questions you say “I can’t do anymore Chris” – I say, please, just try. We think we have hit our wall when in fact we have only just begun. If the passion is there, you will find the strength. For those who absolutely, 100 percent, honestly feel you are doing everything in your power to succeed, I say ask yourself what can you begin to do differently tomorrow to get different results? The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over expecting different results.
So, there you have it, one more and/or one less to becoming more successful. Let me know if this article has inspired just one more little bit
All my best to you and your success!
PS: Hold that remote for one less hour a day!
