Happy Or Right?

Hey Everyone,

Hope you are all doing fantastic and excited about the opportunities ahead in this great time of our lives.

Remember: "You are only limited by the parameters of your own mind" - Christopher Rausch

So, it's a brand new year and you want to accomplish many things right? Well, with setting and achieving your truest of passions, you will no doubt have to deal with people right?

Ahh..people...ya never know what mood they are going to be in right? Especially if you don't know the person - you are playing russian roulette. So, how do we handle situations where we need something from someone, but they are not so willing to help us?

I tell ya how - become a mind reader! Nah..just kiding. However, I will share this simple tool that will work in most situations that involves a potential or real argument. Ask yourself "do I want to be right or do I want to be happy?"

See, most of us have been taught to win - which means in a given discusssion, we have to prove we are right. Well, if someone is right - then what is the other person? Yes, wrong - we have to prove them wrong. Now, I don't know about you, but when I'm wrong, I get fired up. I have to find a way to prove the other person wrong and me right. See where this is going? My mom, throughout my entire life had to be right. Mom - the sky is blue! No it isn't...it's pink! Son wrong - mom right. OUCH.

It wasn't until I read many books on relationships that I narrowed down the solution to "do I want to be right or happy." Since I started this philosophy with people, I have found I haven't been right as many times as I used to be, but I tell you what - I'm HAPPIER! Why? Because they get what they want (to be right) and I get what I want...their help, their support, their business...

This works - try it out. The next time someone is trying to prove you wrong and your instinct tells you to fight back - simply say "you know, I would probably feel similar if I had your experiences to draw upon. Now, let's talk about moving forward with..."

If you want to talk about this further, feel free to email me or post a reply here.

Until next time - Be all you can and never settle for less!

Christopher
